Earth Day 2011

This year Cowichan Green Community is hosting its third annual Earth Day Party, Saturday, April 23 from 10-3 at Charles Hoey Park in the heart of downtown Duncan. The day will celebrate all things eco-friendly and offer neat green demonstrations including:
- how to build your own potato tower planter,
- bicycle powered displays
- seed-saving demo
- “can”-struction contest sponsored by the CVBD – to see who can create the best functional object out of material otherwise destined for the landfill or recycling depot
- Earth Day Party Easter Egg Hunt throughout downtown Duncan whereby participating stores will hide paper mache eggs in their window displays.
- A green mall including non-profit environmental groups, artisans of sustainable crafts, and eco-minded businesses with a goal of creating a cleaner, more sustainable planet.
- Live music stage featuring storytelling, Beverley Mckeen and Martyn Jones, and Bopoma
