Volunteers
We are always looking for volunteers who would like to support all our reFRESH Cowichan programs including the reFRESH Cowichan Marketplace, reFRESH Cowichan Food Recovery Program and reFRESH Cowichan Kitchen.
As a reFRESH Marketplace volunteer
you will help us set up the store for the day, stock our produce stands with fresh fruit and vegetables, keep everything clean and tidy, help our customers if they have questions, and cover our cashier’s break at the register. You may also occasionally be asked to help out in the kitchen or the food sort.
Shifts are typically four hours and scheduled from 9:00am to 1:00pm or 1:00pm to 5:00pm on weekdays, however, we can be flexible with timing.
Ideally, you would feel comfortable using our cash register system Square and be happy to interact with our customers as well. We will provide you with all of the training required and there will always be a staff member around if you have questions.
The reFRESH Cowichan Marketplace is a really fun, dynamic place to volunteer. We would love to have you.
If you are interested in supporting the reFRESH Cowichan Food Recovery Program
there are a variety of opportunities including driving our van to pick up and deliver the recovered food or working in the sorting room, ensuring only the best products are sent out to our community partners or put to good use in our kitchen or store.
If you are interested in volunteering in the reFRESH Cowichan Kitchen, the kitchen team would be happy to show you the ropes when working in a community kitchen, making food for CGC programs or for sale in the reFRESH Cowichan Marketplace. It is a fun, inviting atmosphere where you can share all your secret recipes.
CGC volunteers receive $25 a month free produce from the reFRESH Cowichan Marketplace (some exceptions apply).
To apply, please visit https://cowichangreencommunity.org/volunteer/ And submit an application form. For more information on these, or any other CGC volunteer opportunities, please call our office at (250) 748-8506 or email info@cowichangreencommunity.org .
