We are grateful for the arrival of two Canada World Youth volunteers who are set to infuse their energy and skills into the urban farm. For the next three months, Jason, from Toronto and Rahmi, from Indonesia, will be working alongside staff and volunteers at the urban farm, helping us plant garlic, clean saved seeds, shovel manure into our beds, seed cover crops and expand new growing areas. Join us in welcoming these outstanding youth ambassadors!
For the third year running, VIU’s WEST program (Workplace Essential Skills Training), formerly the Employability Skills program, is running it’s work experience program at KinPark Youth Urban Farm. Join us in welcoming these star students as we help them gain a variety of work skills at the urban farm. We focus on team-building, skill-building, accountability, initiative and leadership in a safe and welcoming setting. Look for their handmade crafts and snacks which will be available through the Garden Pantry Thrift Shop leading up to the holiday season.
