Last month to register! Are you a Cowichan Region farmer or food producer? Then consider listing your farm or business on this year’s Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Cowichan Food Map.
Published annually in Spring, the BLBF! Cowichan Food Map is a comprehensive directory for sourcing local food; it makes food producers more visible in the region, supports their growth into the market, and links consumers to local food. The map showcases our region’s abundance of local farms and food producers and is available to the public for free.
The map enhances the local economy by promoting our local food producers, but also by promoting local businesses, restaurants, farmers markets, and garden and grocery stores. All are important contributors to our local food system, and the map seeks to build relationships between all facets of the food chain for a stronger, more resilient community.
Since 2010, we have printed 10,000 copies annually of the map which are distributed to both residents and tourists alike. Printed copies can be picked up at CGC’s office, via local farmers, farmers’ markets, and tourist centres throughout the Cowichan Region. The map is also available online: Buy Local! Buy Fresh Cowichan Region Food Map and is compatible with most mobile devices.
As demand for local food increases, listing in our guide is a cost-effective way for local farmers to reach this growing market. Registration for the map takes place each year starting in December and closing in March. Click here to register online or email firstname.lastname@example.org for a PDF registration form.
Registration deadline is March 1st and spots are limited so register today.
