We are gearing up for the 2015 harvest season. Co-ordinator Pamela Williams is returning this season and is joined by Gayleen McMullen. We are grateful to John Hood for his help last season in coordinating harvests and look forward to seeing him this fall during harvests at the Forest Discovery Centre where John is working to rehabilitate the heritage orchard and to pass on his love of fruit trees to the next generation. Last year’s harvest was one of our best yet. Volunteers picked 6,105 pounds of apples, plums, grapes and even a few cherries with nearly half of the harvest going to various emergency food providers in the valley. An additional 1,626 pounds were gleaned and given to livestock.
If you would like to help make this our best season ever please register your fruit tree or sign up to pick fruit or assess the ripeness of fruit trees by signing-up online.
