Delightful, is the impression left by a trip to Kilrenny Farm! This nine acre farm, which produces seasonal organic vegetables, free run chickens and free range turkeys has expanded to bring a taste of Italy to the Cowichan Valley – with a local flair.
This year, Deborah and Russell Fahlman, owners of Kilrenny Farm, have combined their passions for cooking, local organic food, and Italian cuisine to create a line of fresh artisan pastas and pasta sauces to suit an array of recipes, palates and dietary needs. From a Garlic-Basil Tagilatelle to their Kamut Linguini, the Fahlmans have committed to sourcing all their grains from within Canada, to choosing organic first, and to ensuring that they produce both pastas and sauces that include as many fresh, local and organic ingredients as they can. In doing so, the Fahlmans offer the community a healthy, preservative-free alternative to store-bought pastas and pasta sauces.
According to Deborah, they offer the “ultimate quick food”. When you’re running late, stop by their farm gate store and you will find everything needed for a quick yet healthy and fulfilling meal. Pair their Peppercorn Linguini and Sugo al’Kilrenny Marinara sauce with seasonal vegetables or a free run chicken and you’re guaranteed to serve a meal to impress!
Kilrenny Farm products are sold at both the Duncan Farmer’s Market on Saturdays and at their farm gate store. Located at 1470 Cowichan Bay Road, Cowichan Bay, Kilrenny Farm is open to the public from Wednesday to Sunday, 10am to 6pm. This year the Kilrenny Farm will be open through the winter season.
