Where food, fire
and friendship meet.

Inspire and equip youth with healthy connections to community and food.

There’s something timeless about cooking over fire, and for local youth, it’s more than a meal. At Cowichan Green Community, the Cob Oven Youth Program offers a safe, sober, and welcoming space where young people can connect, create, and grow.

Every Tuesday and Thursday from 11:00 to 2:00 pm, youth ages 18 to 30, particularly those at risk of homelessness, gather for shared meals, and inclusive activities like art, games, and skill-building workshops.

Using our outdoor cob oven, youth learn to prepare nutritious food from scratch while building food literacy and life skills. It’s a space for confidence, creativity, and connection, where every meal is a step toward belonging and self-reliance.

Feeding youth more
than just food.

It feeds minds, bodies, and confidence
  • Food & Nourishment: Healthy home-made meals provided supporting a connection to nutrition and body wellness.
  • Life Skills: Participants gain practical abilities in nutrition, food safety, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  • Community Connection: Shared meals help build social bonds and a sense of belonging.
  • Outdoor Learning: The cob oven is a vibrant hub of hands-on, experiential learning right in the heart of the community.

fire it up.
