Run by and for community members
Kinsmen Community Gardens is where Cowichan Green Community’s local food movement began. Since 2007, this downtown Duncan site has grown from a few raised beds into a flourishing shared space filled with vegetables, fruit trees, and edible perennials.
Run by and for community members, these gardens offer people a place to grow their own food, connect with neighbours, and learn by doing. It’s a living example of what happens when you put land, knowledge, and community in the same hands.
Growning more than food.
Because good food is just the beginning.
- Self-Sufficiency: Individuals and families grow their own fresh, healthy produce.
- Affordability: Garden plots provide low-cost access to healthy food.
- Social Connection: Gardeners share knowledge, stories, seeds—and friendships.
- Shared Stewardship: This space is shaped by volunteers who build, maintain, and care for it.
