Where community and
food take root.

Run by and for community members

Kinsmen Community Gardens is where Cowichan Green Community’s local food movement began. Since 2007, this downtown Duncan site has grown from a few raised beds into a flourishing shared space filled with vegetables, fruit trees, and edible perennials.

Run by and for community members, these gardens offer people a place to grow their own food, connect with neighbours, and learn by doing. It’s a living example of what happens when you put land, knowledge, and community in the same hands.

Growning more
than food.

Because good food is just the beginning.
  • Self-Sufficiency: Individuals and families grow their own fresh, healthy produce.
  • Affordability: Garden plots provide low-cost access to healthy food.
  • Social Connection: Gardeners share knowledge, stories, seeds—and friendships.
  • Shared Stewardship: This space is shaped by volunteers who build, maintain, and care for it.
